Activity and volunteering programme in Garfagnana, Tuscany, Italy

An activity centre for teenagers aged 16 to 19 combining a volunteering programme with activities focusing on sustainability, collaboration and fun on a chestnut flour farm in the hills of Tuscany.

Our morning volunteering progamme introduces participants to a wide array of skills from forest management to DIY construction, vegetable gardening to animal care. In the afternoon our full programme of afternoon hikes, adventure sports, art and music, cultural visits and one full day trip each week are run through the medium of English, with qualified English language teachers at hand to encourage genuine communication, self expression and fluency.

Each participant is given a volunteering role during their stay in their area of interest including animal care, cooking and washing up duties, taking care of the vegetable garden, helping to organize social events in the evenings and the general maintenance of Paladini.


Typical timetable at Paladini

0800 – 0900   Breakfast including our Paladini chestnut pancakes

0930 - 1230 Volunteering programme with various team tasks

1300 – 1430   Lunch cooked by members of staff and volunteers

1600 – 1830   Activity, workshop, hike or excursion

1930 – 2200   Dinner and social activities around the camp fire


Accommodation

Accommodation is in bell tents complete with wooden floor and mattresses, facilities include bathrooms with hot showers, fully equipped kitchen, communal dining area including camp fire, and stage for musical or theatrical productions. At Paladini we are committed to lessening our impact on the environment and much of the food is sourced from local farms and from Paladini itself.
